wmsystray
The latest version of wmsystray is 0.1.1.
You can safely ignore the little arrows on the bottom of the window for now, but once I have the code to do it done, it will allow you to page through groups of icons. That is, if you have more than four icons - which is more than wmsystray can display at a time - click the arrows to "scroll through" all the icons that wmsystray is embedding.
0.1.1 adds the --nowm command line option to allow wmsystray to work correctly in window managers other than Window Maker (or in Window Maker, but not as a dock applet). wmsystray appears as a regular 64x64 window with this option.
This release should also fix an issue where icon areas wouldn't be displayed correctly (e.g., a grey rectangle would appear for the Gaim systray icon, but wouldn't display the Gaim logo or respond to mouse events). (The fix has been verified under Debian unstable running Metacity.)
Finally, this is the first release that consistently display Rhythmbox's icon correctly on my main machine. If you've been having problems with icons only appearing as grey squares, and right clicks bringing up a Window Maker context menu, please upgrade and see if this works for you. (If it doesn't, please let me know!)
KDE systray icons don't really work. I've had reports of KDE 3 programs crashing wmsystray due to X11 errors.
wmsystray doesn't yet support more than four icons; this is at the top of my todo list. (Well, it will let more than four programs dock with it, but you won't be able to see any more than four icons.)
